Winter shooting can be fun. Today I tried out the Remington 260 factory rounds. They performed adequately in my BM450 20” barrel, nikon 3x32 bdc, match trigger, MOE stock. Conditions were very blustery 40* F, winds gusting L—>R to 15-25mph. Simple wood U shaped forarm rest on a bench.

Funny in that I expected to see a Range Report about the 260 Remington, which can be had for an AR10 platform as well as more conventional actions.

That's about the same resulting 100yd groups that I got from the ones I tested back in 2011. Certainly Minute of Deer but the Hornady 250's group tighter in my 1:24, 20" upper.

Spent the day digging out from the second snow storm in as many days. I'm sure the rifle range that is 10 minutes from my house is buried for now.

Just thought I’d share some fairly real world shooting ammo off the shelf. Not trying to drive tacks, just plinking in sketchy weather. We did throw in some exercises in between shooting. Figured it might elevate heart rates and increase breathing just to add in some realism similar to hunting. I also just installed a MOE stock so I’d have tighter shoulder contact. I was surprised that the recoil seemed as tolerable or even more tolerable than the original stock! Yes the Hornady factory ammo shoots much better, on a calm day shooting prone with a sand bag it’s normal to shoot groups less than 2” ( nothing stellar but effective enough at 100 yards).

It would be nice if there were a few factory ammo options. Until then I’ll keep plinking with budget hand loads. Waiting to load some Barnes 200 X bullets for future hunting!

I did notice that my new BM 5 round magazine binds up the first round... I prefer my old military 20 round mags, smooth as silk.

This is definitely the funniest and most utilitarian weapon I’ve ever owned.

I converted a Remington 700 Long Range in 308 to 260 Rem using a Remage Criterion barrel from Northland Shooter Supply. It was fairly straightforward and I have used it for shooting local matches.

I haven't shot any factory ammo through it, but it shoots great with Hornady 140gr BTHPs.

We’re actually talking about Remington 260 grain bullets loaded in a 450 Bushmaster cartridge.
But that sounds like a fun conversion you have.

Lol, my mistake! I got all excited when I saw 260 and just assumed it was the cartridge.
