I have the .22, 7mm and 308 bore snakes. They clean better than the rod and brush and patches for me. I tested it after I did a quick clean with the bore snake at the range, and got very little fouling our with the rod, brush and patch

I've used boresnakes in everything from 5mm up to 12ga., they work just fine for my normal level of bore gunk. I usually flood the chamber/bore with some "special sauce" made up of half Hoppes *9 and half Kroil, let it sit for a while, and then give it several passes with the boresnake. On the "man, that was a lot of ammo!" days, I still give it a bit of rod and patch work, especially with some JB bore compound.

I think the real point here is: Clean it with something you like, and check the bore after you're done...

I recently picked up a Boresnake for my 450 Bushy. It is just long enough to work in my 20 inch. I also use it for my Colt Commander and my Glock G21 and 30.
