It’s nice to see another option, but it’s a plinking load that cost more Hornady 250gr, which works great in most rifles, for less.

The DRT Terminal Shock bullet portion of those cartridges costs $8.00 ($40/100 retail). The rest of the price of manufacturing is what takes them up above the cost of the 250gr FTX ammo. I suspect if they had Hornady's mass production equipment investment, they could bring the price down. From the picture, it looks like they put a serious taper crimp on them in order to hold them back until the powder really gets cooking.

Bmt85, I'm strictly a Hunter , no plinking. Is there something about these that turns you off from using them for hunting? So far my rifle prefers the Hornady 250FTX over the 3 other factor loads I have tried. I am going to look further into these if they check out.. then I will order a box to try out on some hogs.

I just went to the DRT web page. These are lead free, made with powdered metal in place of the lead. I have a half dozen full boxes of Hornadys so maybe I'm good for a while.

That’s why I called them a plinking bullet. The bullet will most likely break up on contact, and not give much penetration. Could also use them for varmint most likely, but there are better calibers for that. The Hornady factory ammo is usually very accurate in any 450b, does good for hunting purposes, and is the cheapest ammo available. It may not be the best out there, but it is a good option. The better options, like Black Butterfly offerings, are also very pricey.

One of these ammo outfits really needs to do a 450b load with StarLine brass, and a Barnes 200 gr. XPB at about 2500 fps. They'd sell a boatload of 'em, I'm sure.

I agree. The 200 XPB would be a nice offering to those who don’t reload.
