Black Butterfly 160gr Raptor

I couldn't resist the temptation so I just ordered a box of this ammo to try in my 450BM AR15. Anyone here have any reports on it's accuracy or on game performance? I'm shooting a Bushmaster made complete upper and a custom built lower. Optic is a 1x6 Vortex Strike Eagle. I've shot standard Hornady 250gr as well as Black Butterfly 275gr XPB. Both shot awesome and functioned flawlessly. This 160gr load seems to be the ultimate 450BM deer load.

Do the 160 grain have a different point of impact than the 250 grain?

They should given they're lighter but you can dial that out with the scope.

I haven't shot them but ballistics are ballistics.

In Theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In Practice, there is.

Those seem interesting, I'm not sure I like the idea of a light bullet breaking apart.

They are being delivered today! Hopefully I can get to the range soon. From what I've read they seem like more than adequate for whitetail type game. The bullet design is pretty impressive when shot into ballistic gel.

I think the main reasons most people don’t run them is because of the price per bullet, and most don’t want pieces of bullet in their meat. I personally would like to try them, except for the fragmenting design. I don’t even run soft points on game, I only run expanding monolithic coppers. EDIT - I'll run any non-fragmenting monolithic coppers, not just expanding.

As far as using this bullet on deer, there shouldn’t be an issue. These types of bullets do a fine job in the terminal performance category.

It's pricey for sure, but this is my second order from Black Butterfly and man they load some nice looking ammo. The 275gr XPB I shot last year were amazing. Can't wait to try these "screamers" out. At about $3 a round I'm not going to be banging away, just sighting gun in.

Sounds good. Let us know how these bullets work out for you, especially if you use them on game!

Oh and just in case you didn't know, if your switching bullets, clean the barrel real good and send a couple of fouler shots down range. It sucks having to do that at $3 a pop, but works out better in the end.
