I might be behind the times, but I just noticed Ruger has shipped a 450b, 18-1/2" semi-auto now...

Interesting how they both only come with 5 round magazines.

Well, the ATI can be had with a 10-rounder IIRC...also, you can make 10-12 rounders out of standard 556 metal mags with one of these black followers:

Note: prolly have to remove a wind or two from the mag spring...450b doesn't need that much tension against the feed lips...

I had the opportunity to handle one of these first run Ruger rifles today and was not impressed with the finish quality. The heavy barrel and bolt looked great, the 2 stage trigger was acceptable and the Magpul furniture was good. The upper had deep casting marks on one side, more than any blem upper I've ever bought. The upper to lower fit was tight, the handguard was nice and the muzzle brake was good looking. I was glad to see they were being made in Mayodan NC, my home state, but was disappointed in the finish. The price point of $819 seems fair. It was the only one they were able to get. Not buying, yet!

not terribly. im sure that for the most part these are being marketed to hunters who now have the ability to use a straight walled case rifle where before they were limited to shotguns and ML.

so it totally makes sense - from that perspective anyway - to pack them with 5 rounders out of the box.
