I have a BCA 16" upper that looks really good and seems to shoot well. I got it sighted in, but the cartridges keep catching on the lip of the 7 round Bushmaster magazine. I got the follower from Tony and I have a Lancer magazine in the mail. Lots of fun to shoot. Best group after I got it sighted in was about 3/4 inch at 50 yards with a cheap red dot sight that I could barely see. I know I can do better.

MarkTJ97 wrote:Recently got their 16" 450 Upper with 15" handgaurd. Fit very well onto a PSA-15 lower, no wiggle at all. Looked great too.

Unfortunately, the gun would not cycle, feed or eject! I tried all the tips I found on this site and nothing worked.

Finally decided to take it apart and measure the gas port. It was supposed to be .076" per specs but was actually .067". I stepped it up to .0785" (#47) and put it all back together.

Range results were absolutely perfect! Ran 80 rounds with no issues, ejected all 80 in a nice pile around 3:30/4:00 position. Accuracy with the Leupold 450 CDS Scope was impressive.

I would buy more from BCA but I would be ready to inspect carefully. I really should have returned the upper but I don't mind tinkering a bit. For my needs as a casual shooter/hunter BCA fits the bill just fine. Good luck with yours!

Mark, what buffer are you using? I had the same problem when I first shot mine using an H3 buffer. Putting the stock buffer back fixed it.
Do you think it's possible that they limited the gas on purpose since this cartridge runs a narrow range of bullet weights and doesn't run subsonic?

thats actually a fairly common barrel profile for the ar platform. its not just a BCA thing. most barrel makers i beleive call that a national math configuration. .920 to the block , .750 gas block journal and .700 (or even .675 or .650) out to the threads. it is a great balance between weight and rigidity.

my groups off the bench were about a inch. I think the group would have been tighter if the holes were not so big lol! all three shot groups had overlapping holes. recoil is about like a deer slug or maybe a turkey load.

Sounds like a Government profile. Some companies still make that profile today, don’t know why though.

I bought the 16" heavy barrel. No problems with the upper, just need some trigger work.
Some of my targets, combined into one.
Going to be a great hunter.
Hornady 300 XTP MAGs were used.

My BCA barrel wasn’t a complete upper. I modified an upper by opening up the port. The BCG is AR Stoner from Midway USA. Also the mag is AR Stoner. VERY happy with my barrel.

250 grain Hornady FTX. Handloads, But factory are almost identical.

225 grain Hornady FTX

Both are 100 yd 5-shot groups. I adjusted the scope for off-season target shooting- normally I shoot 3 1/2” high at 100.
