ran across this this offering from Hornady, cost $5ish a box more that their standard offerings, blue tipped, wonder if they are the same bonded version as the TC Shockwaves??

Looks to be the same old load, just new box, again. I really wish they would come out with something new. Although, I guess it doesn’t really matter to those of us who reload.

I’d like to see Hornady develop a bonded round for the 450.

You'd think, but I wouldn't be surprised if they did just change the box, then up the price. I checked Hornady's site and didn't see anything about it. However, I looked at there other 450B offerings, and it lists both the Custom and Black as being good for medium game and large game, but only lists Black for personal defense. They are the same round! So like I said wouldn't be surprised.

Looking at the link you posted, it sounds identical to the current ammo. Also, I don't think they make a bonded FTX, in any caliber, do they?

There was a post a little while ago regarding the "blem" bullets available from Midway from time to time. It may have been Hoot.

Anyway, the gist was that the blue tip blems are bonded, as opposed to the red tips.

Would probably take a call to Hornady to confirm.

it says its a 250gr FTX.

which likely means they changed the tip and packaging.

i dunno where the hell they found those though.. that ammo is not on the hornady home site either under 450 bushmaster or the american whitetail lineup, or even in the "new offerings" section for 2019... is that maybe old production stuff thats no longer available that they have listed there (it is OOS)?

In the description it states this ammo is a sportsmans outdoor superstore exclusive. So thats probably why its not on the hornady website and explains the $5. Tje specs are exactly the same as custom and black. Unfortunately not everybody knows the 3 are all the same. This is hornady's marketing taking advantage of the unaware. They are the king of same old stuff but a different box type of sales.

Wanted to add, look at the winchester ammo. Im sure hornady makes it for them. Same specs, same ballistic chart on the box, different color tip and price. Hopefully the Federal offerings become more available. Ive seen the 300gr local but im not interested in that heavy.
