I have an new accessory for my right side charging .450 Bushmaster. Image

The right side charging .450 Bushmaster upper has no brass deflector, I cannot use my brass catcher as I would not be able to charge the bolt. Every so often (not every time,) the large hot brass hits me in the face as I am a left hander. So now I use a JAVA Paint-ball Mask, end all problems AND it looks cool! (I need a riser for my optic though!) And sure enough I haven't been hit in the mask once so far! When it does though I am prepared!

The Masks tend to run between $5.00 and $15.00 used and usually come with rubber cups to protect your ears from strikes.

The funny thing is that since I have been using it a number of other shooters have been showing up at our range (at Parma Canyon) with them! Surely they must also be having the occasional brass strike to the head or face though! I can't imagine that they are using them because they just look cool!

You know as a gender Men are really known for their maturity! Also their cleanliness! Oh, and their usefulness!

The picture is of my BCA .450 bm, it is right hand charging and right side ejecting . I am the left hander. (I do love that there are so many options now a days when it comes to the AR!!!)

I ordered the standard configuration AR upper (rear charging with the brass deflector, forward assist and ejection port cover) for $279. BCA sent me the right side charging upper, which normally is $30 more, as a free upgrade. I love the thicker receiver on this side charger which looks to me like double the thickness of the normal receiver. I considered the brass deflector and ejection port cover to not be that much of a loss and I love the more positive control of the bolt

While shooting it though I got pegged twice in the face with hot .450 bm brass, hence the paint ball mask which is superb...

I am disappointed however that I can't use my brass catcher though and I have already lost 6 cases...

If they use the same robust upper receiver with the left side charging handle (so that I could use my brass catcher) that would be the one I'd rather go with in the future.
