I have 2 ARs for my 450 upper I might use. 1 is a rifle length ACE skeleton stock/spring/buffer, other is a carbine stock/buffer/spring.

If I decide to use the rifle length, any issue with my 450 upper which has a carbine length gas system?

I'm not sure any relationship has been established between a carbine gas port and carbine buffer, other than they share the same name. The original 450b was developed and manufactured for a standard A2 rifle stock and buffer.

Have that Ace stock on my factory 16" bushey, which has the carbine length gas, never had any problems.

what length barrel are you running? if its one of the 20" uppers with carbine gas... the rifle buffer/receiver extension will benefit you more due to weight.


you could also use a 6 position adjustable "carbine" style receiver extension/stock with a heavier buffer and get similar results, or even do a CCWS slug to add weight to your bolt carrier group via hoot


but without more information on your overall configuration we wont bee able to give you as solid of advice as you need to make a properly educated decision

I'm not worried about recoil at all. My question was with the carbine gas system is there any effect (or none) with the longer or shorter buffer spring. 16" barrel, carbine gas system. I'd actually prefer to go with the collapsible stock as when I have my winter gear on its quicker to shoulder than the rifle stock. But I also havent tried shouldering it with the rifle stock with my gear on

I don't think you'll have any issue.

I use a mag-pul collapsible stock on a standard Bushmaster 450 20" barrel (not a copy, a genuine Bushmaster) and its pretty badass for different body types. Its great for me when I'm wearing 4-5 layers and want to maintain proper eye relief.

I've taken 8 whitetails from 18-182 yards. Love it!

But what would I know I'm just a dumbass according to some people....

you'll be fine with the collapsable stock on that shorter barrel system.

might want to run a h2 or h3 buffer though.
