Lower receiver broken ear fix

Postby mossy89 » Thu Feb 03, 2011 4:04 pm

So yesterday I was trying to install my magpul enhanced trigger guard in my spike's tactical lower and it was being stubborn. I was trying to back out the roll pin to start over and try again. My little brother wathcing said "it looks like your gonna break it".... 3 hits later, it broke. I was furious, I can't even remember all the words that spat out of my mouth, haha. Anyway, I called my store I got it shipped to for the FFL transfer and they suggested Devcon 2. Then I googled "broken ear on ar lower" and I had to search through a couple forums and finally found this site. http://starkequipment.com/ They have a pistol grip that covers the ears all together and has a built in trigger guard that adds extra space like the magpul one I was trying to install. Here's a picture of what it looks like, it's pretty nice actually. You can also get one with a hook mount and a swivel mount. I found the grip on Brownells for $40.

Mossy, sorry to hear about your receiver. I have a spike's lower also, have to pull my glove off when I want to shoot. Let me know it the new grip is big enough for a winter gloved finger. Thanks.

I like it a lot, I'm supposed to receive it tomorrow and I'll try to assemble my lower and I'll let you know about the space. I was looking more on the actual starksequipment.com website and at the top of the page you can order from them and it's $35 and you can pick an option of what style grip plug you want, holds either two AA batteries or the little watch batteries.

It came in today, i like it alot. From the looks of it by putting the magpul enhanced trigger guard in the place and then the stark pistol grip in place they appear to provide the same amount of room compared to the standard flat trigger guard. Ill take some pics tomorrow but overall i like it a lot.
