Recoil reduction and muzzle brakes highlights.

Muzzle Brake 2010 in review. This thread has been buried
for some time and after reading it and discussions on other
threads about recoil control and muzzle brakes, I thought these
threads needed to be bumped back to the forefront.
I had a great conversation with one of our members who has
about 30 years experience in muzzle brakes, (rem40xb1), and
I have decided to try adding his brakes to my 450 B and my
XM15 carbine during my custom lower build project.
I am going to try to add links to this thread to bring to one
focal point, a few informative and important threads to reduce
search time so that members and future members can easily
find and read the research and developements that have been
done by the team and the experiences of other members.

Made a follow-up call to Remington regarding their ammo on Friday...Feb.4th....... Still nothing yet....but scheduled for a run in February....Will continue to keep in touch with them until we get some word on actual production and where it's shipped. I will call again next week.....they have been very friendly and helpful .....

Here is a recent addition to the quest for the
Holy Grail of muzzle Brakes. This one looks
Interesting. I hope Gunnut can get an opportunity
to test it on his lab equipment.

Gunny, did you ever run tests on the Ross brake, and do you
Have a graph sheet on it?

Come to think of it,I don't recall seeing it in the results either. That was the only one I was interested in seeing contrasted to the {cough} izzy {cough} brake.

John, I'm snowed out at the range for a while to come if you want to borrow mine to test with.

If anyone is considering changing from the Izzy to a different style brake,
Be sure you order the proper crush washers. Not listed in the 2010 catalog,
They do have it now listed in the 2011 catalog.
Crushwasher for the 450 Bushmaster:
Part # 12991533B-45
$2.95 ea

I finally got my Ross Brake installed today. It took some tinkering to get the crushwasher fitted, but its all together and looks pretty good! I haven't Parkerized the brake yet. I may just leave it alone for now.
One thing I noticed is that a 10 or 13 degree convex bevel on the brake end that mates to the crush washer might help the brake engage and compress/shape the crushwasher to the Brake.
