50 Beowulf

Postby wildcatter » Sat Feb 26, 2011 7:28 pm

I need some tublar data and I know where to get it..

You Gentlemen who own a 50 Beowulf,

1). Can you measure the barrel DIAMETER between the muzzle and the gas block?

2). What are the std barrel lengths available for the Wulf?

3). Is the gas block location standardized like our is? i.e. Our gas block is located at, the Carbine length position.

I assume that their 50, with it's mild pressures, (Mild Pressures, due to the fact that, that Parent Cartridge, being the 50AE, is a low pressure pistol case and must not be over stressed) most likely have the gas block at the carbine location, no matter what the barrel length is, but then again my assumptions are often wrong.

I appreaciate your help in advance.

I googled the barrels and midway sells them. The specs say the gas system is mid length. Barrel profile looks heavy and they evidently have an oddball size thread for the brake.

Thanks Guys, keep the intel coming.

So, we have a mid/carbine length gas block. I suspect that the barrel is 3/4" at the block, so they can use the standard gas blocks, but maybe not. What's their standard barrel length(s). Might as well find out what twist they like.

Who will find out first, inquiring minds want to know?

I'm guessing this isn't the best audience for Beo stuff. If I wanted a slow, fast dropping clod, I'd just cut back on the powder. :D
