dip, coat, paint brake

So I received my Ross brake and I took it with me to the local gun store when getting my gun bore sighted and then when I asked about getting the brake dipped or coated he told me to get a high temp spray paint and just use that..... I thought he was crazy. So I just agreed and left. Now I'm asking you all in your opinion what I need to do to get my Ross brake, stainless, black like the rest of my gun.

I like a 2-part like Lauer DuraCoat or a heat cure like DuraBake or GunKote. For things I can fit in the oven that don't melt, I like Durabake. It's very hard when done and resists chemicals. Just wait until the wife is out for the day and it's baking time! I refuse to spray a gun or part with paint that scratches easily. For non-stainless or chromed steel, I love manganese phosphate parkerizing. Even a caveman can do it right. IIRC, there is an oxiding solution that works on stainless like Insta-Blak SS-370.

I bought a bottle of concentrate from Midway or Brownells, I forget. Makes a couple of gallons. I've been working off of that bottle for years. Sure does a good job if you totally degrease the surface and are relatively close with the temperature.

Don't park the threads!

After I have everything degreased. Wearing surgical gloves, I put on a couple of coats of my wife's thickest fingernail polish on the threads, allowing it to thoroughly dry in between coats and after the final coat. After the parking is done, you can remove the fingernail polish with some acetone or better yet, methylene chloride.

What colour finger nail polish should I use?
I want to be in style...
This is gonna be fun, I never bought fingernail polish before.
Should I buy some finger cots too?

If you degrease everywhere you touched when painting the threads, you can skip the gloves or cots. Surface preparation is everything, but then that applies to painting and gluing as well.

The finger cots comment was just a cheeky jab.
You know, buying finger cots AND fingernail polish...
Guess I was the only one snickering at that one.
(At this point, Jeff Dunham and Peanut are just
looking at each other and shaking their heads.)
Yeeeooow!!
