Do any of you guys have any experience with these bullets? I emailed the company and I'm waiting for a reply as to what the BC's are. http://www.customprojectile.com/45-Cali ... _c_27.html

I don't know the length of that Barnes Original, but the BC is only .04 above the Hornady 250 FTX. Unless you intend to shoot several Elk abreast, the 250 would be as good a choice as just about anything. IMHO stick to 150 yards or less and take a longer shooting caliber rifle for when you're glassing slopes.

With the Numbers I've been reading it seems as though the 450 should be effective out to 300 yards at least. Am I wrong?

If I remember correctly, somebody did some research and discovered that if you sight your zero in at 172.5 yards, you will shoot 3" high at 100 yards, and 3" low at 300 yards.

Who was it that posted that?

More like 3 inches low at 200, not 300. At 300 the bullet is 24 inches low. Go to the Hornady website and using the ballistic calculated, just plug in the numbers. The ballistic coefficient of the 250 grain fxt is .210.

I bought my 20" upper to add to my XM15, straight through Bushmaster when thay had them on sale back last October. I think it was $569.00 +tax and Shipping. But Bushmaster has sort of hit a hiccup since they decided to move to NY. It has slammed down their production and now they seem to be having parts issues. I have a parts order on backorder since March 01, 2011. ..........................I am about to get a bit too cheeky and say something extremly tacky so I am going to shut up now.

I've noticed that 20" uppers are not so easy to find. Maybe by the time I have the cash together they will have caught up??

In the mean time I stumbled on to a cool bullet length reference if anyone is interested.
