20" Upper!!!

A local dealer told me today that he would sell me a 20" 450 bushy upper for $550 plus tax and shipping. The only thing is I will have to wait until his distributor gets one in stock. Is the wait worth saving $250? I was thinking I could use the extra cash for my reloading components. What you guys think?

Put it on order, if you can cancel later. Then keep shopping. However, I checked several sites and only found a 16" upper at Cheaper Than Dirt - no 20's at all.

Waiting for his distributor may be a long time a-comin'.

Yeah, be sure you can cancel at any time before delivery. Otherwise your money could be "on loan" for a long time...

Is it just me, or does it seem like Bushmaster has pretty much shut down production? No one seems to have any amount of their product in stock. Good job, again, Freedom Group! :?:

Yeah, like me. I have about $200.00 on loan to Bushmaster since 03/01/2011. I'm thinking about imposing an interest rate.

I bought my 20" upper about a year ago, and had to wait for about 6 weeks or so. Fortunately, my favorite local gun dealer didn't even take down my CC#, but, then again, I am "Pat"s brother! LOL

No shut down, in fact, increases in out put are the rules. They just can't keep up with the demand, and every month they are increasing production. Seems the other big bores have so mistreated their customers, that those guys are coming over to our side in droves, to say nothing of the new buyers..

I'm not in a huge hurry so I think I'll go put it on order tomorrow. $550 seems like a pretty good price to me.

Stealthshooter,

If you want one quick, build it.... I think you can for around the same money assuming you have most of the tools

Upper is 120 ish
barrel and bolt is about 300
gas block and tube is around 50 -75 depending on what you want
Carrier you can buy for 75ish
Forearm depending on what you want can go from 35ish to 600ish for the upper and forarm together
the Ross brake is 45

there is nothing to it putting these things together.

Unfortunately I don't have the tools YET. I hope to acquire them before too long.

There is a good (my opinion) YouTube video on assembling the upper for the 450 BM. It is at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_jtUiH5_VE for Part 1. Part 2 will show up when you run Part 1. Just one or two special tools needed, and they don't cost much.
