Thanx for the compliment! It's been a real experience to build. The hardest part has been having to wait for parts to ship. Everything else has been a blast! Everyone should build at least one AR from the ground up.
Once finished, this is going to be one of the sweetest rifles I own, (next to my Thumper of course).
Once I finish it, I will do a presentation video with highlights of the build.

My 6.8 was my first ground-up build. I did it using Brownells videos and was surprised just how easy it was. I've been fortunate enough to get to go to an LE Colt Armorer's course since then.

Be careful with building your own, it becomes addictive. You end up not wanting to buy a rifle because you can build it just the way you want.

That looks like a great list of parts. My next build is probably going to be a 9mm pistol, that will later be turned into an SBR if all works out alright.

Look at what I made! I didn't like how I had to hold my Carrier while working on the carrier Key and staking. My next build, I will be prepared! So far I have made 3 of these. My next project will be a block for AR bolts.
They are made of a medium Delrin softer than some of the other harder black and white Delrin blocks used for mag wells and upper receiver tools. Now I can hold my carrier in my vise and not worry about messing it up.

That's a great idea! Surprised that no one else has done that before.

Very resourceful Robin! I won't be doing much shop work for the next week or so, but the winter is long and I have both Delrin and PTFE stock up the wazoo. It's white, not black, but the bullets don't care.

BTW, my Grendel mag was waiting for me when I got home. Very nicely done, but then I've had nothing but good results from those AR Stoner Stainless Steel mags, no matter what the caliber. Fit my rifle and the 2.29 COL Grendel bullets like a glove! Thanks again for the heads up.

My first Stoner mag was supposed to be a 5 round mag but when I finally got a chance to put ammo in it, it only held 4. I took the mag apart and using a dremel cutting wheel, I cut exactly 4 winds off of the bottom part of the compressed part of the spring, expanded two winds off the top of the compressed part of the spring and Voila, it holds 5 rounds perfect! When I got the three 10 round Stoner mags, they were perfect. Glad to hear you got in on those mags before they ran out of them again. I hope you get healed up quick. I have too in recent years injured both of my hands. In 2007, I crushed my left pinky in some machinery at work and darn near lost it. In March of 2010, on the second day of my vacation,I broke my right hand while working out on a punching bag and had to have pins installed. It was not fun.
