Status of the "Black" Magazine Follower

Postby AR167 » Tue Jun 01, 2010 8:26 am

Hi,

My upper came with the new? Black follower in the factory mag.

Are the 450 mags from Bushmaster shipping with this follower? All I've seen on GB are the blue ones.

ant to have a spare mag before huntin' season gets here. ;)

Thanks in advance!

Mine came with the black follower as well. I believe it's the same as the blue, just black.

Is there a standard follower under the black one?

negative black follower is a dedicated 450 mag, blue follower fits on top of a standard follower.

the black follower has some cut outs to fit some weird Poo inside the factory mag.. i dont remember if i ever tried putting it inside a gi mag. i tested about 5 different magazines and setups..

My upper and extra magazine came with the black follower. I also ordered some of the blue follower to use with other mags, but have found that they don't work very well with the aluminum magazines that I have. They rise up too high to function properly. They would probably work better with stainless magazines.

if you take the squished spring and stretch it out and cut a bunch off it it increases the mag capacity by 2-3...but i only did it cause ca doesn't have a 5 rd mag limit (just a 10 rd  )

I've successfully made a follower out of a piece of delron that I carved a 1/2 slot in with a 1/2 ball mill, I used the standard follower as a template and went at it with a dremmel, Works like a charm. My work has strict rules about building anything "gun" related and was only able to sneak in the piece of delron to do the 1/2" mill work, If you REALLY need another follower and are handy at carving with a dremmel PM me and we can work something out.

I put my homemade job above the standard follower in a thirty round (pre ban) and can fit 10 in comfortably, I could cram in 11 but in CA. were limited to 10 (blocked) in the configuration my rifle is in. Feeds flawlessly
We're all in this together
