A few more Bolt Action 450's

Postby dogsniper » Fri Feb 14, 2014 8:22 am

Hello again,

Some of you may remember my posts a few years ago when I put together three Savage 110 450 bolt guns. I'm back at it again. Just finish two last night. Will be finishing one more next week. These were done for a few other fellow hunters, all on the older 110 actions that they provided (non-accutrigger). Both are right hand models with laminated thumb hole stocks. The first is a stainless steel barrel, matte finish with 6 flutes. The second is a standard matte blue barrel. In the near future I will be working on a new Savage Model 16 with accutrigger and detachable magazine. This will be all stainless, short action. Stay tuned for info on how that build goes!! I will post the pictures of the ones I finished last night below...

Couple guys have DBM's, I have a CDI that needs fitting in a Hogue stock after season, but for now it's feeding FTX's just fine.

Thanks for the input Al. I have a Savage model 11 in 243 been pondering a new barrel for deer season here but wasn't sure how well the detachable mag would work with a the 450bm round. Hopefully i'll find out before next season if my other 10 projects are out of the way. probably wishfull thinking I know

there is a guy pimping the savages on GB and MGO, think he's by Linden, he had some built off the Axis, so might work for you. You might want to load your mag with 450B rounds and see how they fit, maybe push one with the bolt and see if it wants to line up with the chamber.

My 700 barrel came from Apache Gunworks, top notch workmanship and first trial run with factory kept them at 1 1/4", which will get one of the kids thru this season.

It's me again and was wondering if Dogsniper thought that having the barrel fluted was worth the money or if it doesn't really reduce enough weight for the money. Looking at ordering a barrel soon so I can have it together by spring to test and tune. Thanks for all the input I have received from you guys
