Also, the magnetospeed measures veloity presisely at the muzzle. I typically set up my chrony 10-15 ft or further from the muzzle. That's 50fps drop right there.

So I am pushing these about 135fps faster than the published velocity.

Thank you for making the effort to check another lot of Hornady factory 250-grain ammo through your admirable rifle.

What are your ideas about why Hornady factory ammo seems to be going 150+ fps faster from your rifle than from any other?

Thanks.

Bob, I'd say it is a combination of the two above and no gas system bleed off. It could also be the barrel as well. I have had barrels of the same length, caliber and chamber spec give different velocities with the same load.

What ever it is, I am liking it but I doubt Michigan deer will think of it as warmly.

Tighter bores tend to speed up the 450b as well as faster twists within reason FWIW.

Well i have several questions ,what ammo are you shooting? have you tried some match ammo ie Fed GMM? if you have just tried your reloads they may be the problem,. you mention your friend what ammo is he shooting and have you tried his ammo in your rifle? Give Mike R at tac-ops a call for a new 700p take off barrel ,it will be 26" long and the varmint contour. they are pretty good ,I have bought and used several of them. where are you located? that might help find a smith near you. otherwise there are several here on SC. that could rebarrel ,true etc your rifle. just my thoughts/

It doesn't happen often, but it is nice when it does.

Open day at ~11am this guy came by. First blood for the Bushmaster.

I was tempted to let him pass and hold out for something bigger and more mature. But from 30 yards I could see a patch missing from his neck and exposed muscle. Figured I'd save him pain and possibly death by infection. One shot from the bushmaster double lunged him and after a little sprint he was spent. Notice the hole it left on the exit above, about a 1" exit. Also note the neck wound below... looks like a puncture rather than a gun shot wound like I first thought, as I don't see torn muscle like a gunshot would normally inflect.

I have a buddy from work that opened a processing shop and he is going to look it over a tell me what it was.

From the pictures, it look like the old timer was dethroned by a better fighter.

Congrats nevertheless!
