I just bought one, for any of you guys that haven't made the leap yet, you're missing out! The gun is awesome! I upgraded from a Ruger m77 44. When I heard that Ruger was coming out with one in 450BM, I couldn't resist. Now the search begins for the perfect handload combo, if such a thing exsists...

Has anyone removed the stock from the action yet? Can't see anything that says it has any type of bedding block system like the American line. Been trying to find out and looking since I first saw them advertised. If not Ruger missed the boat since the RAR will out outshoot it and is half the price...unless you replace the stock or bed it which shouldn't have to be done when asking the money they are for it. To bad, the rest of the rifle looks A1. That stock just doesn't trip my trigger though.

my guess seeing it's built on the 77 Hawkeye action, that there is no bedding blocks like the RAR, just the recoil lug on the bottom of the action like all 77's have.

There are no twin aluminum v blocks under the barrel of my GSS just looked to be sure. And , there is definitely no accuracy issues as mine is shooting less than .75 moa with either factory or the handloads I have cooked up so far!! :D :D

BTW Gunbroker has many GSS at well below Ruger's suggested retail. Got mine for $804.00. The American runs from 319 w/o brake to 599, depending upon muzzle device.

About the polymer mag I bought for the GSS. It didn't work. This mag narrowed toward the forward 3rd at the top to more closely mimic the .308 cartridge profile. Under recoil the fat .450Bm would slide forward and jam under this narrow. With a rasp and file I opened this area to .477in. To try try out I loaded various loads from xtp s to blunt flat nose balls, tapped them forward to simulate recoil then cycle. Performance was flawless. Will test at next range day. If this works I save $40 and prolly buy more of these .

I was browsing Gun Broker and found a Ruger GSS for $799. Two days+ left in auction if anyone is interested.

Just got my Gunsite Scout in 450 Bushmaster. For those wondering about mags other than ones sold by Ruger, Pmags work, MDTTAC mags work, I am thinking any aics mag for 308 will work. I tried my pmag, a 5 rounder, got 4 in it and it cycled fine, now I was just filling the mag and chambering and ejecting live rounds, and also my MDT 10 round mag, got 7 in it, and it cycled fine. I will be going out to bust a few off this weekend. The trigger out of the box is great.
