I know of one so far, let's see if more show up.

Welcome to another Michigander. Lots of information here. Al and Ken have pretty much covered what you need to get started. A box or three of factory ammo should be enough to get you sighted in and do some playing around with your new toy. But I would not use those to go after deer. Had some bad experiences with the 250 FTX. I switched to Barnes and haven't looked back.

Midway currently has Starline Brass on Sale for just over $30 for 50 cases. That's a good price and Starline is what I prefer. If you keep watch on Midway they also run Barnes bullets on sale every now and then.

I had reloaded both the 200 & 275 XPB. My most accurate is the 275 using 300MP (Thanks, Al). I am actually thinking of just using the 275gr to stream line operations. So far all the 450s I have tried it in seem to do well with it.
Hornady dies are my choice and have done me well, plus Hornady customer service is very good.

Good luck and keep us posted on how things are going for you.

I sure do appreciate all the responses you gents have offered. I ordered some Hornady dies have primers (CCI 450) and powder ( H110) in stock, I’ll probably buy some brass and Hornady mag xtp’s and roll up my own starter loads since I’m still waiting on the scope, definitely plan to hunt with Barnes and heavily leaning toward the 275’s. Would like to try some of that MP300, where can I find load data for it?
Thanks again.

don't think you'll find any published data for 300MP and the 450 unless Lyman has something. For the bolt guns I started with it using H110 data and worked up, never tried it in a AR.

I've experimented with it for 300gr bullets, to see if it offered any benefit over W296 or H110 but all three delivered results that were almost indistinguishable.

I keep waiting (in vain) for a QuickLoad update release that supports it.

Think I’ll start with H110 for now, you’d think Alliant would do some testing with this popular cartridge.

they might now seeing Federal offering a load now. A lot of Alliants data uses their sister company Speer bullets, Federal is also a sister company, so they might work up something for that 300gr GD bullet. would really be nice if they brought out a 250gr Fusion.

I had e-mailed Alliant last week asking if they had any loading data for the Barnes 200 & 275gr XPB using 300MP powder. This is the response I got from them yesterday:

Thom,
Alliant has no tested load data for the 450 Bushmaster.
I will submit your request to the engineering lab for possible future development. But, there is no timetable as to when this may be looked at for development.
Thanks,

New to the forum - -Just picked up a RAR 450 this week, and shot it for the first time last night. I love it. Have been a handloader for 35 years, so this cartridge has my attention as a fun diversion.

I have an unopened can of H110 that I bought for my 300 BO but later decided to use a different powder in that gun. And I have around 3000 Fiocchi SR Magnum primers. Just need dies and bullets.
