New Ruger Scout in 450 with S&B 8 x 56 scope

Very pleased with this new Ruger Scout in 450 Bushmaster and new scope. This is going to be a dedicated deer stand, stationary hunting rifle used mostly for hogs. The Schmidt & Bender 8x56 is unbelievable in low light and I have a ATN night vision scope I can attach when needed by removing the QR Warne Ring mounts and slapping the night vision on. I have tested the return to zero on this setup, it is typically about an inch deviation at 100 yards by removing and installing it. Easily acceptable at the 100 yard distances I typically shoot game at.

Group is at 100 yards with factory 250 FTX Hornady ammo and rifle strapped in tight to a lead sled. I am so pleased with what is now my most accurate rifle over other expensive custom rifles that are picky with hand loads on accuracy.

I was surprised the recoil felt along the lines of a 30 06 or less which is very manageable and zero issues with a harsh kick.

I am totally sold on the 450 Bushmaster. Can't imagine a better round for South Texas.

In Theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In Practice, there is.

FSJeeper , impressive shooting. I'm getting ready to purchase my first 450 Bushmaster and the Ruger Scout is my dream if the funds are available. When you set up your rifle I assume you had to remove the RR sight and front rail. Was the front rail difficult to remove?

Rear Peep and front rail easy peasy to remove, in fact the screws were loose from the factory. Had the same issue with my .308 Scout.

Putting together a Small Ring Mauser .450 BM rifle now as a truck gun.

Also getting set up with a gunsmith specializing in Lever Actions to do a 450 BM Barrel on a Savage 99C for me. This should be the ultimate brush gun.

Totally sold on the 450 BM for South Texas style hunting, especially for Hogs.
