Got some Dewsies for this forum too. Now for a whistle wetter... I have been asked by one of the majors to make them a clip fed bolt gun to public consumption, in of course the 450b cartridge..

Sounds interesting but I prefer lever actions; the OAL of the 450b should work fine in the 336 and Winchester 94 actions. If they can handle the 45-70 the 450b should work just fine. Nothing handles as slick and points as natural as an 18-20" Winchester... 444 Marlin improved = 450 Bushmaster levergun.

I kinda like the idea of a bolt gun. That's the place to go to 60,000 + psi to try stuff out, or wind up the twist and spit out the 500 grainers at 1,150 for the "quiet" crowd. Unless you could get the .450B in a .44 mag length action, you're not really putting anything new on the lever gun racks.

A CZ 527 with the mini-mouser action would be cool. I had one in 223 for awhile and it was really nice. They make a Carbine version with a 18.5" barrel that would be great for the 450b.

You and my father-in-law..He wants one too and has been bugging me for well more than a year. Which would be better and why, the 94 or 336 and why not the 1895? Guess I'm going to have to build three, A, one for you two radicals and then one for me..

The 336 and the 1895 are the same action; the 1895 has a larger port for the 45-70 case and is heat treated to higher standards than the 30-30. The 1895 444 Marlin, 450 Marlin and the 45-70 marlin are all rated at relatively the same pressure standards... this would be my choice over the Winchester; which would be the "XTR Big Bore" action. The Marlin actions are easier to scope and have a reputation for greater accuracy. It should be easy to find a 450 or 444 used Marlin for sale at your local shop. The Winchester XTR Big Bore rifles are collectibles and rifles of much higher quality but harder to put a scope on. The XTR and Marlin actions can easily handle current Hornady 450b loads with strength to spare.

lever actions are perceived by to be somewhat inferior to bolt actions... nothing could be farther from the truth.

I asked myself "Who could possibly be asking for one of those?" and CZ was the first company I thought of and the little Carbine (Now chambered in 223 and 7.62 commie) seemed like the logical candidate.

I believe that CZ is working on a 6.5 Grendel now, so the seem to be open to "Off the beaten path" cartridges.

I was thinking a Ruger Number 1 or 3 would be slick. I once had a #3 in a Hornet that didn't group well but I got rid of it years ago....... :( If I still had it I'd be looking for a barrel blank......
