Mossberg MVP bolt-action uses AR15 mags

Postby commander faschisto » Mon Oct 03, 2011 5:24 pm

Maybe someone could investigate whether or not Mossberg's new MVP bolt-action could be rebarreled to 450b...it uses standard AR15 mags. Not sure about the bolt face dimensions in regards to requirements for 450b cartridge base.

Good thinking Bro! I saw the ad for that in a hunting magazine (predator xtreme, perhaps?) and should have but didn't even think about re-chambering for .450b.

I've had one on order, for just that consideration. I also am looking at the CZ527 (they approached me to do it), which is way lighter, but has a magazine disadvantage. Of course, when you stick in a 45 bore it's going to get lighter, say maybe .5lb. This might just be the rig for the 600yd++ ELK rig, using the 275gr Barnes (cat # 45105). I'll keep you all updated as that becomes a reality..

As far as I know, the MVP hasn't been released yet. I will see Mossberg at this years SHOT and find out what the hold is. IMHO, a MVP/Scout in 450b, will give the Ruger Scout Rifle a run for the money, especially if the things we NEED to KILL, has got to DIE, right smack NOW..

I don't have much time in the day, too much shooting and engineering shooting goodies. Can someone drop a dime on Mossberg and find out the low down on the MVP"s ETA.
