AR-15 10.5" barrel choices

Postby coyote wacker » Tue May 28, 2019 7:28 am

I'am in the market for a 10.5" barrel must be threaded 11/16"-24. It's going to be shot with sub-sonics, might shoot some supers. Was thinking a pistol length gas block adjustable with 1-16" twist ?
Bullet of choice for sub-sonic going to be Makers 425 gr.
Advise would be appreciated.

I went the route of ordering from X-caliber when they had a sale going, I think they still do. I’m doing the same thing, mostly subs with the 425 Maker’s, maybe some supers. I went with a 10.5”pistol gas 1/16” twist, with standard 11/16 threading. I also went stainless so I didn’t have to coat it. Also planning on running an SLR adjustable gas block.

BHW is another choice with there 1:18 twist. Should stabilize them.

After that it’s probably going to be finding a 1/16 twist midlength barrel and sending it out to be cut down and re-profiled.

One thing I can across though, a guy running a 45 Vrap with I believe a 11.5” carbine length gas system, was able to cycle subs, with a suppressor for sure, don’t remember if it ran unsurpressed, probably not.

The AR pistol, or AR-15 pistol, delivers substantially more maneuverability in tight quarters than the AR-15 rifle system that it was designed from. This is because the AR pistol uses a stabilizing brace rather than a stock, has a barrel length less than 16", and an overall length under 26”. Like the AR-15, the AR pistol is a very flexible platform with a wide selection of accessories including pistol stabilizers, buffer tubes, cheek rest, and more. Get a complete AR pistol or enjoy building your own at Rainier Arms.
