Thanks Hoot! I'm still wishing that the Barnes released a banded TMZ that we could use.

I emailed Barnes shortly after the TSX came out, and those are the velocity number's they gave me. I also asked about the diameter of the 275 TSX being .4505", they replied that it was to reduce pressures, so it can be loaded to faster speeds, but they also said it wouldn't affect accuracy too much.

As to the range that expansion will occur, I have played with a ballistics calculator and it looks like you should get some pretty good range.
The 275 XPB at 2000fps, 0 elevation, and 30 degrees, you should get about 175yds with expansion.
2200fps at 0 elevation and 30 degrees, should get 225yds
2400fps at 0 elevation and 30 degrees, should get 270 yds

With the TSX, add about 80yds to those. From what I have seen around here, 2200 fps is easy enough with these bullets. If loaded long (2.33"or more) and leaning on it (Safely!), they are capable of going over 2300fps. Be safe working up that high.

I chose to push the TSX hard, and it has worked amazingly well, but honestly, you don't need to push these bullets hard. They open fast, and will penetrate a long distance. As cool as it would be to turn the 450B into a medium range cartridge with the TSX, it just doesn't have the b.c. to do it. Even if you pushed it to 2400fps and it expands at 350yds, the wind drift is going play havoc. Is it possible to shoot them accurately at that distance sure, are most shooters capable of it, I would guess not. I push mine to get the most energy of it, and so far, they have been great. They also seem to hold up just fine (no petal loss) when being pushed.

I have been to this thread a few times and now need to ask are your 200 grain XPB stamped for .45 Colt or .460 S&W? I have both to try but I also need to load some for .45 Raptor.

I use the 460 ones.

Your Raptor bolt or AR?

I don't dare say AR10 because it's not Armalite but, yeah it's one of those.

had one in a AR10/LR308 lol, but never shot the Barnes, just the 240gr XTP and 225gr FTX, did OK, nothing really to brag about. Ended up trading the barrel and eventually bought a Savage barrel from Satern. It's pet load is the 200gr 460 version a bit over 2900fps and this things a shooter!!

My 450BM barrel, big bore upper and 45Raptor barrels are Satern as well. Goood stuff from those guys.

Can you share your 225 FTX data for the Raptor in an AR? My 450 loves Hoot's recipe for them but I haven't found any data for that projectile in the Raptor. We can take it to the general reloading thread if needed.

42gr Lil gun for both the 225 and 240gr, CCI LRP. Had no issues with function or pressure signs, never did check velocity. Accuracy for both was around1 1/2" and to be fair, I never really spent the time to get comfortable with that gun.
