I have some I bought a while ago but have not loaded any. Was playing with the cheapo everglades ammo for plinking and then it got cold amd rainy for a bit, so haven't done much lately.

In the package and online it has a warning to only use their data for reloads as they are supposedly different than other bullets.

I emailed them asking for load data but never heard back and couldnt find much for load info on them.

Thank you Litigation Attorneys

File that right above the Proposition 65 warning. ;)

Reloaders start with attorney approved recipes and experiment up from there. Unfortunately, some reloaders are obsessed with pushing their velocity up to just below detonating the rifle, on the first try! That warning seeks to indemnify Speer from those who the gene pool struggles so valiantly to eliminate.

When the 450b first took off and for years to follow, it was only manufactured in the AR platform, with one bore ID and twist rate. That is unless you went custom, which few did. Sharing reload "Range Reports" was easy in those early years. Yes there were still speed demons but most of us went along with the creedo: "Move slow, check often" when developing recipes.

When the stronger bolt actions and single shots arrived on the scene, the rules changed. Now we have two reloading philosophies to satisfy and what is safe in the latter, is not necessarily safe in the original platform, for what should be obvious reasons. Also back then, there were few recipes published by manufacturers. As the caliber matures, more and more reloading manuals are listing loads for it, though they still err on the side of conservative.

I would not hesitate to take those 300gr Deepcurls up to 2100-2200 fps in my 20" 1:24 twist AR upper. I would not go with Lil Gun however. That weight of bullet and above, is better served with the next slower powders.

I only have lil gun for now(well have varget as well) and from what limited data I have seen, the heavier 300grn stuff likes other powder. But that was on hogden site I think using different bullets.

Onnthe speer they said that somehow their bullets are different and to only use their load data. But they only had the data for 460. I emailed asking about 450 reloads with deep curls but they never replied.

I figure for hunting I'll use the boxed hornady I have , and then reload the cases with the cheaper stuff for practice

If they haven’t tested and had lawyer approval they probably won’t give you any data. I have loaded some deep curls and they gave 5 shot groups (sitting) of about 2 1/2” at 100 yards. Not great but would easily do the job.

Yeah, I didn't mention groups. I started low and slow, bringing them up but never really saw an accuracy node in my 450b. Then again, I suffered the same fate with Hornady XTP Mag bullets. That having been said, the kill zone on a white tail is a lot bigger than 1 MOA. If you're just chasing hunting loads at modest ranges, they'll do fine.

I only picked them up to try because at the time they were on sale and I have heard good thungs about speer bullets in other calibers.

But from what i am learning, unless I get a load wirh great accuracy I probably wont use them. Having to use a different powder just for one bullet seems a pain, and accuracy at best seems ok. They are not cheap enough for general shooting and for hunting you can get the hornady bullets for about the same price or a bit more.

I am thinking they may have a niche if you target tougher game that the hornady ammo has trouble with due to separation. But for white tail and piggies it seems like hornady do well, and maybe even the cheapo 230 jhp 45 long colt.

I consider myself to be an average reloader. I enjoy experimenting with all the calibers I own, often just to try and find "a better mousetrap". I have somewhere around 15 different powders. Never considered it a burden but then as I said, I enjoy reloading.
