Hornady die question

Postby jg5254 » Fri Aug 20, 2010 10:41 am

I have only had experiance in reloding 308 and have not reloded in 5 years. I just got my Hornady 450BM dies in yesterday, So do I use the taper or rolling crimp? I am assuming that the shorter die with the opening that goes all the way trough it is the taper crimp??

Sorry for the stupid question,Any help would be great Thanks

Taper crimp only. To set up the sseating die:

1. Insert a cartridge in the shell holder.
2. Run the ram all the way up.
3. Screw in the full length die
4. Screw in the die until it stops (not on the nut). This is the point where the cartridge is just contacting the roll crimp.
5. Back die off one turn.
6. Tighten lock nut.

Good to go.
