gun show find

Found a nice little surprise at a gun show in Sydney, MT.

Only problem is I only got 20 of the 300 gr, and 30 of the 260 gr. I'm gonna need a little help from someone in the know to help me determine a good load to put under them, since I'll probably not find any more of these at $3.00 per package. Not gonna reload them until I have a few other tools on hand, modified case for oal gauge, and comparator gauges. Don't want to mess them up without knowing if they'll work.
Go big... or go home.

That was one bullet I wish Nosler would've kept in their line up for handguns.

Search for .451 caliber on this forum. Several items will come up with loading information here - http://www.450bushmaster.net/search.php?keywords=.451+caliber. There is also a lot of info about resizing to .4515 from .454, but I couldn't come up with a good search string.

I still have a few of the 300's. I used 30.5 grains of LG and a WSR primer. 1850 fps. You could run up to 32, but you only gain 50 to 75 fps.

I shot a small buck with it and it punch right thru. Great bullet, but I would have rather worked with the 260 and get the speed up to 2100 to 2200 instead.

I mentioned this in another thread, but LG and the heavy bullets, isn't really the powder to use if top end performance is desired. In fact, you mentioned that on your upper-end loads, using LG, that the rims were trying to rip off. That happens when the case is still stuck in the chamber and the gas is saying to the bolt, Open or better said, too much chamber pressure. The cure here is to use 296/h110/or better yet 1680..
