Reloading Benches - Show Me Yours and . . .

Postby Jim in Houston » Sun Oct 07, 2012 7:07 am

Recently, a flyfishing website I frequent had members send in images of their fly tying benches. I thought, why not do the same for reloading benches.

So here is mine. Due to space limitations (no basements in Houston and I live in a townhouse with a) no backyard for a shed and b) wife who disapproves of sweeping up gunpowder in the kitchen), I reload in the garage. The bench is a section of 1/2" plywood mounted on a very old Sears Craftman Workmate. Everything can be broken down and the reloading equipment all fits back in the box it came in. Since this photo was taken, I have moved the powder measure over to the left end of the "bench" to give me more work space in the middle.

Here is the poor mans reloading area. On the bright side all of the loading equipement was free other than the powder measurer. Even the wood was scrap I gathered together. I make up for it by firing / reloading a bunch :) One day I would enjoy having a multi stage press but I think thats a ways down the road..for right now free is good.

Yes, but I bet that the wood matches the bedroom set on the other side of the room  .

Nice chair, WoC. BTW, I noticed that both of your double ended reloading wrenches are lying on the floor - or do you have a dog?

There have been some changes since this pic but not too many. The bench is a very heavy unit that I built just for this.
