Blem bullets at Midsouth

Postby Hopalong » Wed Nov 07, 2012 2:22 pm

Midsouth Shooters has blemished 300 gr .452 jacketed rifle bullets on clearance. They list them as flat point spire tip, but a better description might be JSP. Doesn't give the brand and you have to buy 500 but the price is down to $90, plus shipping of course. I'll let you know what they are if I can figure it out when they get here.

When I ordered these bullets the shipping seemed a bit high. Not enough to stop me, but I noticed. It hit me when the package showed up, it was heavy... I weighed the bag of bullets, 21.5 lb! Lotta lead going to be flying here pretty quick, I'll keep you posted on how they work.

They look good, I'm interested in how they do too.

I'd be interested in looking at a cross section to see the jacket thickness, if you can manage.

Yeah, me too, since they were advertised as rifle bullets... I've seen the various section jobs done by folks here and I'm guessing a Dremel with a cutoff wheel? Any particular advice for holding the bullet while cutting? Some sort of v-block setup?

hacksaw and clean up with a file will work, dremel if you have it..

if you want to drop a couple in the mail, I can mill in half and post pics.

Dremel with a block of wood with a curved channel to hold the bullet and a cutoff wheel. Just be careful with the lead dust.

I may take you up on that if I can't make a decent job of it, thanks.
