Question about 450B brass

Postby gramps » Tue Nov 27, 2012 5:10 pm

I'm new here and have been reading and trying to gain knowledge about the 450B.

Brass that I ordered from Midway USA came with large primer pockets. The reloading info that I have read on this forum and Cal Guns mentions small rifle primer. Have I missed something?

Thanks

Don

Now that's interesting!

The .284 Winchester parent case originally used LR primers. A worthy note though. LR primer pockets can get looser faster than SR primer pockets.

Egg on my face  Before calling Hornady I should have checked closer. The brass has small pockets. My old eyes need recalibration.

Sorry guys

And Commander Fast and Furious has made that mistake more the 1 time, well ok, not more than 1 million times.

But he does have a good idea about reducing your ration of S'mores. I support the notion and I'll protect that ration, to the last drop of the Commanders Blood..wink..

IIRC, I've made a bad call or two myself. Move it on over. Fortunately, I'm not a big fan of Smores 'cause I wouldn't get a smell. ;)

Hello everyone

When I make a really stupid mistake I'll admit it and hope for forgiveness.

Not new to reloading and should have been able to tell small from large at a glance. Can do when looking at the primers, but maybe not so when looking at the back side of brass. At least not 450B. It is sort of short, tapered, then fat at the bottom, till ya get to the rim. Really do need to get my OLD EYES re-calibrated. I'm really sorry to ya all. Got two sets of calipers within steps here in the house. Did i grab either to verify what I posted--NO.

S'mores, Yum. Maybe I need more! Haven't ate one in about 20 years. Don't give up on me yet, slowly one by one bring me back to a full ration. Please :P
