Any good safe functioning load will work, just take the time to move the sights around, get a great rest and I mean Great and then go for it. You'll be surprised how well you and the gun will do.

I've done the 200gr & 275gr Barnes XPB's at 300yds and kept them under 2 moa.

BTW, these are great long range bullets and at 300yds, you still have enough residual Horse-Power to decide any issue, when the bullet gets there. Forget the energy numbers, there are things going on here that defy the ballistic calculators. A 275gr XPB WILL Swiss-Cheese a moose at 300yds, when fired at our speeds..

PS.. Here is a very good day, using 200gr XPB's at 200yds @3000fps on my Lab Range. NOW DON'T think you can duplicate this load, it is dangerous and for informational purposes only..t

Keep in mind that despite being a great round for the ranges I hunt at <100 yds in thick woods, the 200gr XPB will not expand when shot into sequential water jugs beyond ~180 yards. Might as well be FMJs at 300 yds when they're traveling ~1146fps. Still deadly and if you hit some bone, then that changes the calculus.

The Hornady 200gr FTX expand reliably at much lower velocity. Here's a Link to the work I did with the 200 XPB water shots. I have several other threads on 200 & 275 XPB load workup Linked Here

Hoot, that's exactly my point. Our FMJ's are by far bigger in diameter (.4515") than the 30cal get after expansion (more than 2x) and is bigger than the 338 gets, after expansion and for crying-out-loud, bigger than an expanded 375 H&H Magnum gets!

200 grainers are general A-OK and indeed at extended ranges wont expand at all (to which I say.."So What"). The 275 grainers may however be needed, if say a 2000lb+ animal needs to be penetrated and the Kinetic and or Inertia Energy becomes important to the kill.

Expansion is only necessary for Sub-munition Training Rounds, where all the help they can get is needed. We don't need that. We have the Horse-Power!! Define your Mission and then choose the correct bullet for the job, expansion isn't needed in a 45 call weapon, but if it occurs, so much the better..

I have a sub moa load for these going 2723fps out of my 20" upper. I'll share it but you have to use at your own risk.

Alright Stealthshooter,

I promise to use at my own risk! However, if you'll share your 200gr FTX Load data with me, I do plan on starting my loads somewhat lower than yours, and then gently working up to your level slowly over time. Afterall, my gun may be a bit more sensitive than yours, and I want to stay around to take my grandkids huntin' next year.

Regards, & Thanks,
LlindeX

Having combed the forum as things were posted, I collected the following for the Hornady FTX 200 gr: 38 gr Lil Gun, COL of 2.190, and taper crimp to .475. I use WSR primers, but am currently trying out some Remington and CCI's on other loads. I have not reloaded any of the 200 gr weight yet, so can't personally vouch for this load, but it is what I will use, when I get some 200's.
