Tubbs CWS with H-2 buffer?

Postby 45r » Sun Aug 11, 2013 7:03 pm

Tried the tubs weight system with a RR CS lower with H-2 buffer today.
Ejection was OK but my last shot didn't eject.
Rifle was dry and brass was a little dinged up.
Might have too much weight with FA carrier and H-2.
Should have oiled the rifle up good before shooting.
Never stuck a case before.
Going to try semi-carrier and H-1 buffer next.
Last 3 shot group went half inch at 100 with the third shot sticking in chamber.
Load was 38 grains Lil Gun with 225 FTX.
Was fun shooting the 450 again.
Getting close to hunting season.

Shot same load with TCWS,H buffer and semi BCG and got 3 o'clock ejection.

This weight seems just right for my rifles gas.Brass lands in the same spot.

45r,

Are you still happy with your Tubbs carrier weight system? If so, what weight buffer & spring did you find to be the best? What length is your barrel and are you loading your 250gr FTX bullets on 38.0gr Lil'Gun? I've got a 20" rifle and have been considering getting a Tubbs carrier weight system just to try it out.

Regards, & Thanks,
LlindeX

LlindeX, I run the tubbs CWS and one of Gunny's recoil reduction stocks on my 20 inch and it runs as smooth as butter. Takes about half(my unscientific observation) the kick out of it and stopped all of my brass issues(ejector swiping and extractor marks). Stock rifle buffer and spring, and all factory and reloads function flawlessly.
Go big... or go home.

Sounds like I might just as well bite the bullet and spend the big cash to get one of those Tubbs carrier weights. My 450BM doesn't ding my brass too badly with the calm loads I've been using. However, I've got a S&W 308 Winchester that could definitely use some help, & going up a bit in the power of my 450 loads is somewhat attractive too. Thus, Having the removable Tubbs system, could definitely be a benefit since it will work in both bolt carriers. I'll just have to talk to the banker and see if she'll let go of some of the cash. May take a while though, 'cause she ain't too happy 'bout me getting the S&W M&P-10 the way it is.
