Posted: Mon Apr 04, 2016 11:54 amya they save HUGE image files. look at the file size - a full resolution HD image is probably gonna be in the several megabite size range.
raw images from my galaxy S5 come in at 5312 x 2988 pixels and 3.5-4.5 mb size range on average. large images (like an outdoor landscape) can be >7mb in size.
for good image posting, you'll want to limit to around 1600 pixels wide as a max. i try to keep stuff under 1200x1200 wherever possible, and often 800x600 will suite the needs for most stuff.
just for reference, when printing images to traditional formats, a 2 megapixel camera at 1600x1200 would be a standard 4x6 print baseline for a quality image. your 8 megapixel camera's raw image files @ 3264 x 2468 can be used to make 16x20" prints of the same image quality. 2 megapixel camera's were used on the iPhone 2.....
if you have to go wide (lets say a gun photo) try to crop first and then resize it so its a long skinny pic. a 1200x500 picture displays pretty well on most forums.
i dont know how to do that kind of editing on an iPhone, i usually do those kind of adjustments like i said on the computer or by uploading to photobucket first (which automatically saves images in a smaller format and lower resolution to save storage space)
