New to the 450bm love shooting the big bore ar, and love to reload. My gun is a 450 bushmaster 20" upper wanting to use 225 grain Hornady ftx projectiles over lilgun powder and use the cci 41 primers can you reloaders with experience tell me some starting points to get the best 100 yard groupings as the gun will be primarily used for whitetail hunting and steel ringing

Welcome Aboard!

If you look down this sub-forum page, you'll see a Thread I did on them back in 2010, but which still holds true. Good target results on page 2 of the thread. There are three accuracy nodes starting at 35gr and running up through 41gr. That does not mean start at 41gr. Seat them until you can still barely see the cannelure peaking above the mouth, appx 2.12 COL. Taper crimp down unto that cannelure to .474-.475 and you should be good to go. It's okay to work up from 35gr in 1gr increments until you get above 38gr. Then slow down to 1/2gr increments. Your rifle will tell you what it likes as you go through the ladder.

Note: IMHO, the only good choice for a primer is the Rem 7 1/2 and the results I obtained was using them. I can not speak for CCI 41, but others may have experience to share.
