I see most people are modifying the 45/70 FCD's to work with the 450 BM. I already have the Lee 4 die set (that includes a FCD) for the 460S&W Mag. It almost seems like I could use this die without modification if I adjusted it correctly?

Has this already been proved or disproved as a good idea?

My concerns come in with the style of crimp and how the cases differ in regards to the 460sw mag headspaces on the rim and the 450 BM headspaces on the mouth. The 460SW Mag FCD looks like Lee's rifle FCD's, not like their standard handgun FCD's. I'm just trying to think of this from every different angle.

I thought I would let the community know that I reloaded some 450BM today and crimped with my 460S&W Magnum Lee Factory Crimp Die with no modifications to the die. The only "unique" thing that I had to do was instead of inserting the case into the shell holder, I had to set it on top of the shell holder. Worked surprisingly well! It crimped the 450BM cases exactly like I was hoping it would!

At only around $12, it might be worth your try!

now that's a idea there. I have a 460 crimp die, gonna have to try it
