Shopping around for low cost bullets for the thumper I was taking a look at these

https://www.hinterlandoutfitters.com/sp ... 11527.html

Anyone have any experience with them? Would they be able to hold up to 450B velocity?

If I'm not mistaken, the Speer TMJ are a type of plated bullet. Which probably won't work out to well at the speeds the 450B pushes them.

That is correct. If you beat the bush, you can flush out good deals on 230gr cup and core FMJ's at a reasonable price. Somebody somewhere always seems to have one brand or another on sale. I have used three different brands of them over time and the quality between the brands was so close as to not be a deciding factor. They can be found for as little as 12.5¢ each if you buy a box of 500 and split them with friends.

Hornady is making their 230 Grain FMJ round noses still. Saw a box of 500 for sale at Cabelas the other day. (I passed on them because I have a new project upcoming and I’m backlogged already on other 450 Bushmaster loads.

New project is a 6.5 Creedmoor bolt action.

Thanks to all for the replies,

Sheepdawg, I found a 500 pack of those Hornady FMJs in an area Field & Stream store, but they wanted 120 bucks plus tax for them. Seemed a little salty to me, so I passed in the hope of finding something a bit more economical.

That's a ridiculous price for 230 FMJ's! You were wise to pass.

I just looked at a couple online retailers and found a few options

Grafs has Magtech 230gr FMJ for 14 cents each, and they also have Hornady FMJ for 18 cents each
Midway has factory seconds again. They have what I am pretty sure is Horndady, 230gr FMJ for 15 cents a piece, and they also have the 225ftx seconds for 22cents a piece.

Also keep an eye out for Zero brand bullets. They are the least expensive real fmj's I've been able to flush out, when they're not on sale. The reviews I read on them were positive. They're running off sale, around 67.50/500. Could be an even better catch when they're on sale somewhere, or if shipping is included or reduced. Typical shipping for 500 (kinda heavy) is about $15.00. I do sleuth around for you guys.
