Safe Pressure for Ruger Bolt Action Rifle

Postby Thom28 » Thu Dec 07, 2017 11:38 am

If I remember correctly the maximum safe pressure for the AR 450BM is around 38,000psi. Please correct me if I am wrong.

What I would like to know is, what is considered the maximum safe pressure for the Ruger Bolt Action rifles? I know this has been discussed on the thread but I could find nothing when I did a search.

Any information would be appreciated? Thanks for the help.

Thom, I have never seen a number for the 450 in bolt guns either, but a guideline might be what the action is capable of with a similar case head size, 55-60k.

Al, those were the figures I thought I had seen earlier on the forum but couldn't find the information when I tried to search the forum.
I have a friend who is handloading for the CVA single shot 450BM and he is pushing the 60,000psi. He says his cases show no sign of pressure and he's taken a couple of deer with it.

Thanks for the information.
