NEW Lee 4 Die Set for 450B!!

Postby mwalters » Fri Dec 08, 2017 8:00 am

Hey all, I just ran across this on Lee's site:

Finally a more reasonably priced die set alternative to Hornady. Unfortunately, I can't find anybody that has it in stock yet. It does say new for 2018, so I'm guessing it's just not available yet. :( If anybody find this in stock somewhere, post it up!

Spend the extra money and get the Hornady dies. They are much better quality and have the floating seater to help with bullet alignment. Lee dies can be problematic. The crimp dies are good. YMMV

I already have a set of Hornady dies with the Lee factory crimp die too. But it would be extra nice if someone made the side crimper die for us though. I could see getting one and not having to convert a 45-70 die over or something.

I agree with Moose Ears. I do use Lee tapered crimp dies, but other than that, I have not had good luck with lee Dies. If you keep watch you can find the Hornady Dies on sale for just a few dollars more than this set of Lee Dies.

I generally prefer Lee dies to all the others. They're cheaper and load my hunting grade ammo just fine. Some very accurate hunting grade ammo I might add.

Almost makes me wish I had waited for the Lee's in 450...

most of my dies are lee dies, however when i got my hornady dies - these just didnt exist and lee had no announcment of them coming anytime in the near future.

i dont regret my hornady stuff at all, even if they were a few $ extra.

Got my set already from Titan reloading. Haven't used yet. Don't have experience with hornady but this is my 3rd set of Lee dies and I like their products. Mine were 40 shipped

I'm with ya, I prefer Lee dies. Hornady makes a nice pistol die set, but I do not like Hornady's bottleneck rifle crimp. I don't know if Hornady's crimp on the BM is good or bad, but I'll wait for the Lee dies.
