450 and 350gr question

I’ve seen some data on here that sounds like it should work about h110 and 350 gr bullets in 450 bush. My question is do we actually know what kind of pressures we talking here? From what I can tell it’s a 38.5k pressure gun. Before I step out into these waters I was wondering if anyone has actually quickload or tested this?

Can’t help you on pressures, don’t have quickload.
With 350gr bullets, you might want to run slower powders. Something like 1680, CFE BLK, Shooters World Blackout, 4198. You will get better velocities with lower pressures.

Since I've never seen 350gr jacketed bullets, are you speaking about cast lead boolits? I've read that they do tolerate faster powders and believe me, H110 while it will work, is too fast for a 350gr jacketed bullet. It will burn just about all out by the time the jacketed bullet travels around 12-14 inches. That does not utilize most rifle barrel lengths. AA1680 being slower, is a better match. If you're talking cast lead boolits, I'm at a loss since I don't deal with them other than my .22 LR guns.

Well the hopes were h110 as I’ve seen someone do it on here w .458 bullets resized but just full disclosure I do imr 4198 too

I did some resized .458 bullets (pain in the ass) that were 325gr and they shot pretty darn nice from my 20" 1:24 Bartz. In that case, I used 1680. It would have been nice to have a powder ever so slightly faster, but did not try H110. Actually, I don't have H110 but I do have MP 300 but I didn't try that as QuickLoad said that the 1680 should pair up with the 325's. I also have CFE Black but it being a touch slower than 1680, I didn't use it. I only had about 35 of the 325's to work with. Using 5-shot 100yd ladder trials runs through 35 bullets pretty quickly. It was a passing interest since nothing I hunt up here requires 325gr bullets. The effort was as much to see how resized bullets perform as it was anything.

Ahh. There’s a gentleman by stealth shooter on here. He’s the one that did 350s. Maybe I should pm him

Ok. I have some quick load data for h110 and imr 4198 w 350 gr billets.

H110 it’s been figured that 33 gr is max w a reading of 37k psi at 1800 fps

Imr 4198 figures that 36 gr is max noting sami guidelines at 1750 fps

Interesting. Hodgdon shows H4198 getting better velocity than 4 other powders with a 300gr bullet. H110 was one of those powders, and actually had the least velocity of all the powders listed. H4198 should've have done even better with a 350gr. I know your talking IMR4198 and I'm talking H4198, but IMR and H are usually in the same ballpark. What 350gr bullet are you planning on using, exactly?

Yeah I was looking into it myself pondering.

The news is this is for a 350 gr cast bullet from Noe (459-356 htc design)

The data of bullet deminsions was input Into the program and still it seemed bizarre when you look at hogdons data comp to a 300 gr Swift bullet but I’m not sure what a swift bullet is maybe it’s a all copper bullet and I’m providing data on the lead bullet that behaves quite diff.

H4198 comp to imr 4198 I believe doesn’t hodgons normally push faster and imr push w more pressure or do I have it backwards?

Maybe to address bmt about h4198 I didn’t ask him if h4198 would have out performed in this piticular senerio. I kinda wished I asked for everyone’s sake but I was sitting on imr4198 and h110.

Seems my h110 data provides is close to stealth shooters start point.

Swift a frame. A jacket bullet w lead core. Jacket of pure copper not alloy w a thicker jacket to insure full bond meant to operate above 1600 fps to 3000 fos
