The dies are what runs the price up. Midway has the challenger set on for $89.99 in ther Feb flyer.

Yeah, the dies, they can really add up. Anymore I shop on Fleabay for used dies, unless abused, they can last several lifetimes. You can usually get them for half the price of "new" cost, or better. I even managed to buy an unused set of Hornady .450 Bushmaster dies about a month ago. I didn't pay half price but I still saved @ $25 over "new". There are always tons of excellent "used" reloading equipment on Fleabay. Sometimes you'll even find older dudes selling their entire inventory of reloading equipment in one giant batch, which can result in some huge savings.

I use Hornady 450 Bushmaster cases which use small rifle primers.

Jim - are you using .284 Winchester cases to form cases to use in your 450 Bushmaster?

Probably a typographical error; should be box of 50.

Here's the link to their web listing that shows a box of 50 for that price: 450 Brass at Midway

It is a typo. I mentioned it to them a couple of fliers ago. I guess they're not very good listeners.

I am not doing anything yet. Still waiting for equipment to arrive, including a reloading handbook. I just "guessed" at a primer to try and get a total cost per round on my breakeven calculation. Now I know!!
