Has anybody tried either the 250 or 160gr raptor bullets made by cutting edge ? if so how did they perform etc.

IMHO, $2.18 per bullet is not needed at the velocities this caliber achieves. Many bullets are incredibly lethal for less (sometimes a lot) money. Now, if I were using a .45 ACP, maybe it could benefit from their design description.

Just sayin'...

Those are a little too expensive for me. I know Black Butterfly loads them in their ammo, and they have been posting videos of their 458 Socom gel tests. So maybe contact them and see if they will be doing any gel test vids on their 450B offerings. EDIT - They only load the 160gr Cutting Edge Bullet.

Also the ARX bullets are just fancy plinking bullets, in my opinion. There are quite a few bullet options that will outperform the ARX and the 250FTX, for less then Cutting Edge. That's my opinion, anyway.

After reading the article and their company's technical briefs, I'd venture that they went too light with the bullet design. Frangibles excel at handgun velocities not 2620+ fps. They should have released that bullet using the same form factor at the 200gr 458 SOCOM version. I don't think they can go much heavier without them getting too long, given the light weight of copper powder suspended in a polymer. At 200gr, you could slow them down more, so that they don't "splash" so much. IMHO, the author of that article at Ammoland chose his test medium poorly, not to mention running a 158gr bullet through a 1:16 bore. I was going to write Inceptor to see if they'd consider a mold redesign to take their 450b bullets up to 200gr. Maybe mooch some test samples if they're receptive.

I'm ready for this year's testing and the only new stuff I have are those XD Penetrators that I didn't get to last year. I have plenty of the regular choices of bullets stockpiled, but they've all been tested to some extent already. I would like to come at some of my Hornady 300gr SST/ML bullets with IMR4227, which I haven't bought yet, but that's about it.

I'm at work but I'm pretty sure I have the 300gr SST/ML. I for sure, don't have 4227. I never had much luck pushing those 300's with 1680. Couldn't get them fast enough to do "The Tighten Up". wait for the horns section
Those resized 325 gr FTX's did well with it however. Go figure... You'd think those 300 SST/ML would have done fine with W296 or 300MP but I started seeing pressure signs just as they were getting up to speed, enough to perform. Figured I'd split the difference with IMR4227.
