Real happy with powder coat results last night!!

Took three tries to get it! Temp was WAY OFF! Getting powder right... getting knack for positioning bullets...

Third time I had temp to 385 and they came out NICE! Three more small batches and all of last four where as good as I am gonna get.

LEE push thru did A fine job too. (After) even installing gas checks on the 300’s!!

Im on the road till mid next week so better post then. Here was last two bullets completed ready to load.

I did not chrony them, but it was a staring load. You can see they "fell" a little form POA with jacketed. But fine for my needs...

Top properly answer you, probably. :) BUT they shoot pretty well and as I am making a load that's more economical, might also make it a lil easier on the shoulder so can enjoy monger. :)

So I am pretty happy with the plain base bullet. It did well with three loads, 13g Trail boss, 15g of 5744 and 30g of 4227. ALL shot virtually single hole at 50 yards.

Cooking is going well, I am new but all seems good. I have been told my coating is thick... but If I go thinner, it doesn't cover as well and I see many voids. It dosent seem to harm anything, as I size after coating and it dosent come off... I am happy.

Here is some pics I took of the process. No real order.

I cast 10# more of the plain base bullet. BTW It weighs in just under 300 as cast, so its likely a 300G bullet with softer alloy.

I'll coat these next weekend. nice and relaxing as I have been doing them On the back porch with a paper or magazine... load shake cook, shake load cook wait... relxing. I also quench them in water again straight outta the oven.

Two thin coats (shake, bake, shake, bake, then size) should get you better coverage than one thick coat.
Here is a plethora of information from a bunch of guys that have been doing this a loooong time: http://castboolits.gunloads.com/forumdi ... ternatives

get some wire mesh and build a basket. you dont need to stand them up individually to cook them. save a little time. pour them in, the bb's will fall thru the basket, as will the extra PC powder. just make sure the bb's will fit thru the size of mesh you get. you dont even need to make sure they're not touching or anything.

I tried that at first. It left marks i dont want to see. Im sure that they will effect little, but appearance is improtant to me so ill take the effort to stand them up. (For now at least)

If for some reason I need mass quantities, that would likly change.
