Warning - the following load information exceeds maximum pressure according to several reloading manuals. I am not recommending anyone else attempt to recreate this load. Use caution when working up any load as every rifle is different.
I loaded up some 250 FTX in new Hornady brass using Lee dies. I am using WSR primers. I started with 38 gr LIl Gun and worked up to 41gr. I seated the bullet to the same length as a factory load which is approximately 2.250 measuring from the polymer tip. I tried to seat them without flairing the mouth but it was too tight and the cases were shaving the jacket a bit. I loaded 3 rounds this way at 38 grains and they grouped about 1 1/2 inches at 100 yds. I crimped all of my rounds with the Lee FCD that came with my set. All my other rounds had the cases lightly expanded so the jackets wouldn’t get shaved. All loads grouped the same or better than factory Hornady 250 FTX which in my rifle is about 1 1/2” at 100 yds. The most accurate load was 40 grains and I will post a picture below.
