So I have found some 250 gr xtp's but I cant find any load data...I'm new to reloading so my question is can I just use load data for any 250 gr projectile?

Those are the thin skinned variant, intended for pistol velocities. the 240gr is the thick skinned "Magnum" version which take the 450b velocity fine. They behave like the tipped 250gr FTX and you can use the same recipes, other than a shorter COL since the XTPs don't have the ballistic tip to make them measure longer. Kind of common sense on that part. I was prudent and never loaded the non-Mag 250gr, so I can't speak from experience. For me, I never got the same degree of good groups from the XTP's like I did from the FTX's. Plenty accurate for deer and hogs however.

I use to run the 250gr Hornady XTP through an inline muzzleloader. Took several deer with it as close as 40 yards. Don't ever recall recovering a bullet, including a huge doe at 140 that folded like a suitcase on a quartering toward shot.

The last deer I took folded the same way. Unfortunately it was off the front right corner of my F 150 one foggy morning.

There's definitely cheaper ways to tenderize venison, but it all eats the same. Alas, there is a certain je ne sais quoi to telling your dinner guests you ran it over with your truck.

The last coyote I bagged was with one of my 285's.
