Range report with 200 gr. bullets

Postby CJP1 » Tue Oct 30, 2018 8:49 pm

I was finally able to make it out to the range this afternoon. I was sighting my RAR in at 100 yds. I was using 47 gr Lil-Gun, Barnes 200 gr. XPB bullets, once fired Hornady brass and CCI 450 SR mag primers. I side crimped as well as taper crimped all my rounds. I shot three 3 shot groups and all were under an inch. I checked the muzzle velocity of my fouling shot with my MagnetoSpeed chronograph and got 2682 FPS. This load is too hot for an AR. Only use it with a single shot or bolt action rifle.

I used that bullet in my 45R bolt gun last year at a little over 2900fps, very accurate.

110-120ish yd shot, picture perfect
