Has anyone used these bullets?

Postby CJP1 » Sun Jan 20, 2019 11:10 am

I bought two boxes of .451 dia. Barnes XPB bullets from someone on another forum. One box are the 225gr XPB bullets and the other box are 250gr XPB bullets. I didn't realize that these bullets had such a large hollow point cavity. The 200gr XPB and the 275gr XPB bullets that I load have a different profile and much smaller hollow point. Has anyone loaded these bullets on deer? If so, how did they hold up?

Have used the 250gr with sabots in the ML before, opened up perfect but dont think they were going over 2000fps with 3 pellets.

Thanks for the response Al. I had not even thought of using them in my ML.

I'm going to shoot the 250gr bullets out of my ML and see how they group. I loaded the 225gr bullets to shoot in my RAR as a plinking round. I don't think they would hold together in a deer with a hot load. They should be good for getting in some trigger time.

i ordered a pile of those 225s just for that reason - cheap trigger time.

me and a buddy split 1k of them a while back when they were sold as pulls over at american reloading.
