Reloading/crimp lesson plz

OK, I have reloaded for like 20+ calibers calibers over the years for my hunting and military rifles.Thousands of rounds, and yet over all those years I have reloaded exactly two pistol, or straight cartridges. A 32 S&W with a Lee Loader 30+ yeas ago and my 41 Magnum a while back using a load I found online IIRC crimping wasn't in the deal. Now I am getting new brass and powder in for the thumper and I need help. I bought a set of Lee Pacesetter dies which include a crimp die in the four die set. No clue what type of crimp it is (factory? whatever that is), and I want to know if that is acceptable for my loading the 450 bullets? I plan on loading as long as possible and do not intend to use a cannelure, or groove if I can help it using Speer 300's, FTX 250's and Barnes PBX 275's. Just not sure what all these fractions are being used to describe crimps. I'm old and very much a candidate for KISS advice.TIA.
