Anyone having experience about H&n .452 bullets?

.452 H&N 200 grain HP High Speed?

Planning to try something like that in AR-15 with 13-inch barrel.

Not feeling too comfortable knowing they are plated bullets. I would look at the heavier 250gr, they will be easier to keep at a lower velocity. Honestly, I would contact the company and find out exactly what velocity they are rated for.

Lots of members use them. The difference in diameter is insignificant. For the record, I never got them to shoot accurately after many tries and I'm pretty resourceful. YMMV

Though not as reliably inexpensive as 230 FMJ, I'm a big fan of the Hornady 225gr FTX bullets. If you watch for sales and blems, you can save considerably. I've gotten them for as little as 12₵ each but that was before Midway got greedy. Now, you're just a fortunate to land some under free shipping or some other deal.

Lately, getting them for 25₵ apiece plus shipping seems to be a good deal. The 225gr FTX perform very accurately in my 1:24 twist barrels at around 2200-2300 fps for simple trigger time. When I'm feeling down, I load up some 225's and head to the local range for some small groups shooting. I leave feeling like Vasily Zaytsev.

I agree with Hoot. The typical FMJ's don't seem to group that well. I have played with Sierra 230gr FMJ's (.4515 diam) and Nosler 230gr FMJ flat points (longer bearing surface than normal FMJ's) a little bit, and they showed promise. The Sierra's are the same price as the 225 FTX's, so I would say just go with the 225 FTX's. Noslers are a bit cheaper, so might be worth a try. Overall, the 225 FTX's are going to be hard to beat.

on a good day I can keep those 230gr Nosler FP's around 1 1/2" and 39-40gr Lilgun out of the 16" Bushey, most times it's 2" or a bit better.

I have a hard getting too serious with blasting ammo, most times it's just for buds who just want to shoot a 450.

I'll add one "except" to my previous post, that I was reluctant to pass along.. Once I got the 230 FMJ's above 2400 fps, the pattern began to shrink rapidly. Unfortunately, I got pressure signs that would tell any AR platform shooter like me to stop right there and pull down the even higher charges in the ladder. So, theoretically (see sig) bolt and single shot 1:24 rifles could venture where better judgement told me to not go. In case you're wondering, my AR based 450b rig can easily and repeatedly produce 1 MOA groups at 100 yds.with the right bullets. So I know if a bullet can't produce any better than 2-3 MOA, its the bullet. Townsend Whelen said, "Only accurate rifles are interesting". I share that philosophy and it extends to bullets that I tried to get a successful recipe for.

I use my remaining stock of 230 FMJ's to load up a few for the curious to shoot at the range or to check my work modding Lee FCD dies for stab crimps.
